Roaches, Ants, and Spiders (Oh My!)
GP Home Defense LLC will customize a solution to your household pest problem. Many people continue to live with cockroaches because they don’t know what else to do about it. Cockroaches are a serious health hazard. They will feed on any organic matter, including human and animal waste, and are drawn to human food. They are a major cause of foodborne illness, spreading salmonella and other bacteria. Their waste, eggs and decomposing bodies also cause allergic reactions for many people.
It is important to address cockroach infestations as soon as possible because one female cockroach can produce hundreds of thousands of offspring in just one year. The first step in battling cockroaches is to reduce clutter and eliminate food and water sources. Crumbs and grease splatters are manna from Heaven for roaches and can lead to explosive population growth, but roaches will also feed on hair, sloughed dead skin cells, fingernail clippings, bathroom ‘splatters’, book bindings, cardboard glue, pet food, pet waste, dead insects, each other and even people. That’s right, it is not uncommon in heavy infestations for cockroaches to bite and feed on sleeping people. Thorough and frequent cleaning is the first step in effective control. GP Home Defense LLC can use a combination of strategies to wipe out a roach infestation, and we can do it without spraying chemical pesticides all over your home.
Most spiders in Kansas are relatively harmless, and the vast majority are even beneficial because they prey on other insects. The Brown Recluse spider, however, can be quite dangerous. Brown Recluse spiders are likely the most common house spider in Kansas. They prefer dark, undisturbed areas such as basements, crawl spaces, garages, sheds, and other storage spaces. They can also be found throughout homes in piles of clothes, in seldom-used beds and furniture, behind baseboards, and in all types of clutter in and around homes. Their bite can sometimes be quite severe, causing a deep necrotic (dead) ulceration of the skin and muscle tissue.
There are many species of ants in Kansas, but only a few typically become household pests. They will invade houses looking for food sources, and even if you kill the ones that you see, more will usually keep coming. By the time you see them, they have likely already sent word back to the rest of the colony that they have located a great food source. GP Home Defense LLC doesn’t just address the ants that you can see. Our method works like a time bomb that the ants carry back to the nest, and wipes out the whole colony. We can also establish a barrier around the perimeter of your home to deter ants from other colonies from invading.
Wasps can deliver excruciatingly painful stings. Do-it-yourselfers trying to remove a wasp nest often create an angry swarm of wasps looking for someone to punish. If you’d rather not risk it, give us a call.
